51: In the notes Lucy is attacked by something which ‘seems like man – then wolf’ however in the novel this is translated into ‘whether man or beast, I could not tell’. These sections seem to pertain to what happens in ‘Dracula’s Guest’ as it mentions an old chapel, shrieks from the grave, sights of terror & falling senseless, before being found by the Count. 43: The wolves remain in the text but the ‘wehr wolf’ is removed. Suggests an overlap between werewolf and Dracula. 37: Similarities in the description between Dracula (as coach driver) and the red-eyed wolf in ‘Dracula’s Guest’. 31: Evidence of the desire to have a ‘wehr’ wolf in the text – referred to as a ‘Tourist’s Tale’: the root of ‘Dracula’s Guest’ (?) – why was this removed? Moved to Transylvania although it does not seem clear when this was. 29: Had previously set Dracula in Styria.
